Reverend Kathryn King
Pastor E. Carl Howard
Greetings in Christ. I am a resident of West Haven and a Member in Discernment, seeking Ordination in the United Church of Christ. I preach and lead worship at least once a month here at First Congregational of West Haven where I am a member and I also participate in other ministry activities as called upon. I am a graduate of Yale Divinity School and the holder of several Master’s degrees from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary. Currently bi-vocational, I hold interests in Theology, Black Studies, American Religious History, Critical Social Theory, and Law. Further operating in the ministry gifts of a Teacher and Evangelist, and in accordance with Ephesians 4:11-12, I am the founder of an Urban Ministry that unconventionally engages unchurched men weekly in secular settings.
I am happily married to my wonderful wife Belinda of more than 20 years, who is my helpmate. I would welcome the opportunity to meet you and talk with you in person and hope you will visit us at First Congregational Church of West Haven.
Always Believe In Him,
Pastor E. Carl Howard
Jessica Lyman, Director of Christian Education
Welcome! I am excited to be working as the Director of Christian Education!
I was born into and raised in this church, and I feel very dedicated to this ministry. Here at FCCWH, I have worked with Sunday School, youth group, family events, confirmation class, church council, and the deacons. I help lead children's worship once a month in the chapel. I am in my final year of Christian Education Certification through the United Church of Christ. My goal is to provide exciting and special lessons and programs for youth, teens, and even adults, to feel closer to our God.
I live in West Haven with my husband, Russell, and our two cats. I work another job, and am interested in management and leadership. I lean on the Scripture reading, "It is the Lord your God who goes before you. He will never leave you or forsake you." Moving forward, and never alone, I hope you will join our ministry!
With gratitude and joy,
Courtney Holmes, Parish Nurse
Welcome! I am the Parish Nurse at First Congregational Church of West Haven. Serving our congregation and the wider community, our Parish Nursing Ministry promotes whole person wellness and disease prevention through the integration of body, mind, and spirit! A faith community provides health benefits through social support, a social identity, and a sense of power beyond one’s self. Building on this strength, parish nursing provides education, counseling, prayer, presence, active listening, advocacy and referral with an intentional focus on care of the spirit.
I do hope you will stop by to have your blood pressure checked! We are in Fellowship Hall the 3rd Sunday of each month during coffee hour after worship. I also encourage you to “Like” us on Facebook to receive updates on upcoming events and trusted health education. www.facebook.com/PNMFCCWH
I look forward to meeting you. I am a West Haven native and live here with my husband and two sons, ages 6 and 10. I am a nurse practitioner with West Haven Medical Group and care for residents in nursing facilities. And as a lover of education, I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree at Quinnipiac University in Parish Nursing! I am so happy to share my nursing gifts with you!
Blessings of health!,
Cathy Sabatino, Church Office Administrator
